Lodge Grass--- A mistake named this town. Crow Indians called the surrounding country ?greasy grass,? because the grass left a stain on their moccasins. The Crow names for ?greasy? and ?lodge? were so similar that pioneers hung the wrong name on the town. Nearby Greasy Grass Creek is correctly named.
