Fort Shaw --- The namesake fort for this town still is in somewhat good repair. One of the forts built to guard against hostile Blackfeet, it was established in 1867 as Camp Reynolds. The fort was named for Colonel Robert G. Shaw of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteers, a Negro who was killed in the Civil War action in 1863.
