Canyon Ferry--- Beneath the waters of Canyon Ferry Lake lies a canyon that pinched the Missouri River. A pioneer ferry across this point carried the stage and freight wagons that connected Helena with Carroll road and the gold mines of the Belt Mountains across the river. Crossing it till the late 60s was the St. Paul, Minnesota-Helena Pony Express mail, delivered at this point to a stage.
