Culbertson --- One of the most accomplished fur traders in the western history gave his name to this town in historic fur trading country. Alexander Culbertson was the factor for the American Fur Company at Fort Union, just east of here at the junction of the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers. He established many other trading posts for his company, and he and his wife, the handsome Natawista Iksana, a Blackfeet princess, were host to John James Audubon on his Missouri River journey in
