Park City--- This town had a hard time making up its mind. It was here that Captain William Clark first found trees large enough to make canoes for his descent of the Yellowstone River. Its first name was Clark City for a real estate promoter, not the explorer. Northern Pacific Railway officials wanted to save the name Park City for the present Livingston gateway to Yellowstone Park by rail at that time. However the residents decided they wanted Park City, and the name stuck.
