How Your Town Got It?s Name
Courtesy of John Willard

Laurel--- Apparently from the laurel growing on the river bottom here. This site, at the mouth of the the Clark?s Fork of the Yellowstone, was discussed by Lewis and Clark as a good site for a trading post. The town was known for a time as Canyon Creek , and the Indians called this point ?The Lodge Where All Dance.?
