Richard Hayden Ferguson married Margaret Munro May 14, 1905 in Ekalaka, then Custer County, Montana. The witnesses were Nellie Munro (McLean) and Almin W. Hardy. There were six children from this union, Alice Irene (m. Waldref), Madge (Buddi) Isabelle (m. Kennedy), Catherine Louise (m. Frederick) Roderick (Buzz) Hayden, Abbie (m. Gilbert) and Richard Ross Ferguson. My grandfather applied for and was granted two homesteads of 160 acres each. The witnesses were William Mowbray, Walter A. Peck, Mortimer O. Tracy, John Booth, Thomas Martin, Louis F. Romme and William E. Sweeney. Only four of these men gave a deposition on the property and that they knew my grandfather. My grandfather was a member of Canton Custer no.6 I.O.O.F. and in the early days(1915) was an alderman. He was in partners with others at different times with businesses such as a feed store and a blacksmith shop.
